The whole family has come to look forward to our Friday-night ritual, and I can see our children's religious pride in all sorts of situations, such as when my 3-year-old daughter tells strangers in the grocery store that her blankie, named Pinkie, is Jewish.
My son is a captain in the Delaware Army National Guard and he recently spent a year in Iraq, so my husband and I know well the mixture of pride and concern that all military families share.
