abstract:The African Silverbill (Lonchura cantans) is a small passerine bird formerly considered conspecific with the Asian species Indian Silverbill, (Lonchura malabarica). This estrildid finch is a common resident breeding bird in dry savanna habitat, south of the Sahara Desert.
