神经胶质细胞，简称胶质细胞，是神经组织中除神经元以外的另一大类细胞，也有突起，但无树突和轴突之分，广泛分布于中枢和周围神经系统。在哺乳类动物中，神经胶质细胞与神经元的细胞数量比例约为10：1。在中枢神经系统(CNS)中的神经胶质细胞主要有星形胶质细胞、少突胶质细胞(与前者合称为大胶质细胞)和小胶质细胞等。传统认为胶质细胞属于结缔组织，其作用仅是连接和支持各种神经成分，其实神经胶质还起着分配营养物质、参与修复和吞噬的作用，在形态、化学特征和胚胎起源上都不同于普通结缔组织。
