器质性是指多种原因引起的机体某一器官或某一组织系统发生的疾病，而造成该器官或组织系统永久性损害。这就叫做“器质性”疾病。 肉眼或显微镜下看到器官、组织结构发生了病理性改变；受累器官功能减退或丧失；病情严重，病程迁延，不易治愈；病灶逐渐扩大，严重者可引起死亡。同样，冠心病可因心机缺血、缺氧、梗塞造成实质性损害，产生严重后果。
