所谓发泡剂就是使对象物质成孔的物质，它可分为化学发泡剂和物理发泡剂和表面活性剂三大类。化学发泡剂是那些经加热分解后能释放出二氧化碳和氮气等气体，并在聚合物组成中形成细孔的化合物；物理发泡剂就是泡沫细孔是通过某一种物质的物理形态的变化，即通过压缩气体的膨胀、液体的挥发或固体的溶解而形成的；发泡剂均具有较高的表面活性，能有效降低液体的表面张力，并在液膜表面双电子层排列而包围空气，形成气泡，再由单个气泡组成泡沫。
