过量空气系数亦称“过剩空气系数”、“空气过剩系数”，俗称“余气系数”。指实际供给燃料燃烧的空气量与理论空气量之比。是反映燃料与空气配合比的一个重要参数，常用符号“α”表示。其值可借气体分析仪进行测箅。在各种炉子或燃烧室中，为使燃料尽可能燃烧完全，实际供入的空气量总要大于理论空气量（其超出部分称为“过剩空气量”），即过量空气系数必须大于1。但燃烧理论与运行经验表明，α过大或过小（表示送风量过多或过少）都对燃烧不利，亦即不同燃烧设备各有其最佳的过量空气系数值。
