电枢绕组由一定数目的电枢线圈按一定的规律连接组成，他是直流电机的电路部分，也是感生电动势，产生电磁转矩进行机电能量转换的部分。线圈用绝缘的圆形或矩形截面的导线绕成，分上下两层嵌放在电枢铁心槽内，上下层以及线圈与电枢铁心之间都要妥善地绝缘，并用槽楔压紧。大型电机电枢绕组的端部通常紧扎在绕组支架上。
在结构 有不同之处，交流机的电枢绕组(armature winding)大都在定子(stator) ，而磁场绕组(field winding)则在转子(rotor) ，直流机则相反。
