托马斯主义是指中世纪神学家和经院哲学家托马斯·阿奎那创立的基督教神学学说。一种将亚里士多德哲学中的消极因素与基督教神学相结合的神学唯心主义体系。1879 年由教皇十三世正式定为天主教的官方哲学。托马斯以万物应有“第一推动力”的说法，推论出上帝的存在，认为世界是上帝从虚无中创造出来的，有时间的开端，并不永恒存在，并把它描绘成由下而上递相依属的等级结构，每一低级的存在都把较高级的存在作为自己追求的目的，天主是最高的存在，也是万物追求的最高目的。
