《琴思》是向霖导演，车秀清、王江等主演的电影。在百花乐团的排练厅里，乐团正在排练兼指挥方冰根据亲身经历创作的《琴思》钢琴协奏曲时，突然，秘书进来请钢琴演奏者章波去办公室接电话。原来电话是一位外籍华人打来的，他受国外的老相识朱稚兰的委托寻找章波。章波接了电话后，心潮起伏，引起了他对往事的回忆。章波自幼丧父，便跟母亲在朱家做佣人，整日被关在厨房里。朱家的小姐朱稚兰酷爱音乐，每天在大厅里弹琴，清脆悦耳的琴声吸引了小章波，使他对音乐产生了浓厚的兴趣。一天，章波溜出厨房，好奇地跑到钢琴旁边试弹。
