夏叶，原名叶廷芳，浙江衢县人。1961年毕业于北京大学西方语言文学系德语专业。历任北京大学教师，中国科学院外国文学研究所《世界文学》杂志编辑，中国社会科学院外国文学研究所中、北欧文学室主任，研究员。全国第九届政协委员，中国德语文学研究会会长。1963年开始发表作品。1986年加入中国作家协会。
