花羽衣甘蓝是原产欧洲的十字花科植物，经过多年筛选种植后，日本易名为叶牡丹，寓意为祝福。叶牡丹株形美观，容易栽培，观赏期长，冬季11～12月均可观赏，最适于花坛冬季美化和盆栽，也可作切花与其它装饰。播种期为7月中旬至8月上旬，定植期8月中下旬，观赏期11～12月。定植株距25厘米～30厘米，行距50厘米，肥料以底肥为主，追肥在10月上旬进行。
