"I strongly condemn the executions that took place last week in the Gambia, and call for a halt to further executions, " said Christof Heyns, the United Nations special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.
Twelve UN agencies, representatives from UN Country Teams and UN Special Rapporteurs on the promotion and protection of freedom of opinion and expression, Frank La Rue, and on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Christof Heyns, will be participating.
The meeting, organized by UNESCO, brought together representatives from 15 United Nations bodies, including Frank Larue, the UN Special Rapporteur for the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion, and Christof Heyns, UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.
