Projected operating costs are expected to be lower than other mines because metals are closer to the surface, Begic said, with platinum assets about 80 meters below the surface.
The mine is located in the Western Bushveld area of South Africa, about 20 kilometers from the giant Rustenburg mine owned by Impala Platinum, and sits in the heart of South African platinum production, said Kris Begic, vice president of corporate development for the Vancouver-based Platinum Group Metals.
