-y /-ɪ/ ( -ier, -iest, -ies )

  SUFFIX -y is added to nouns in order to form adjectives that describe something or someone as having the characteristics of what the noun refers to. If the noun ends in e, y sometimes replaces it. 表示“有...特征的”

  例：

  ...a smoky pub.

  ...一家烟雾缭绕的酒吧。

  例：

  ...juicy red berries.

  ...多汁的红莓。

  例：

  The process results in a much fruitier wine.

  这种加工可酿造出果香更加浓郁的葡萄酒。

  SUFFIX -y is added to colours in order to form adjectives that describe something as being roughly that colour or having some of that color in it. 表示“大致...色的”

  例：

  ...a rich, reddy, brown wood.

  例：

  Her eyes were a bluey-green colour.

  她的眼睛是蓝绿色的。

  SUFFIX -y is added to a name or a noun in order to give it a more affectionate or familiar form. 加在名字后，表示亲昵

  例：
