经文是科举考试所用文体之一。以经书中文句为题，应试者作文阐明其中义理。始于宋熙宁初。《宋史·选举志一》：“罢诗赋、帖经、墨义，士各占治《易》、《诗》、《书》、《周礼》、《礼记》一经，兼《论语》、《孟子》。
