玉果也称肉果、肉豆蔻、顶头肉，是肉豆蔻科肉豆蔻属植物，烹调中取其果仁(种仁)和肉豆蔻衣(假种皮或称玉果花)作调味品。肉豆蔻具有特殊香气，温和而辛，略具甜味，果仁(肉豆蔻)风味较肉豆蔻衣浓厚，但稍有苦味，肉蔻衣微有辣味，主要呈味成分为肉豆蔻醚、香叶醇、芳香醇、龙脑等。中医入药，性辛，温，有暖脾胃、涩肠的作用。
