木火，原名朱伟杰，1975年毕业于苏州地区师范中文系。1968年赴昆山市蓬朗镇插队务农，后历任昆山市千灯中学教师及文教局创作组干部、文化科科长、副局长，昆山市教育委员会副主任，昆山市文联副主席，广播电视大学校长。1997年加入中国作家协会。
