施农，原名王诗农。贵州郎岱人。曾就读于贵州省立师范学校，并任贵阳女子中学、川东师范国文教师，重庆私立乡建学院讲师，社会大学教授，1949年后历任重庆大学教授，西南师院中文系教授、系主任，重庆文协筹委会副主任，人民文学出版社编审。1938年开始发表作品。著有专著《鲁迅事迹考》、《鲁迅述林》，编辑《许寿裳文录》，编辑、注释《鲁迅全集》(10卷、16卷两种版本)等。
