常静生于中国四川，从小随龙德君老师习筝，1991年考入中国音乐学院，先后师从李婉芬教授，邱大成教授习筝，1995年以全年级第一的成绩毕业，现任中国东方演艺集团古筝演奏家，国家一级演奏员，2002年至今被聘为泰国公主常任古筝老师。在2008年北京奥运会开幕式上演奏古筝独奏《礼乐－－春江花月夜》。
常静专注于唐宋诗歌的古筝音乐演奏与研究，有多张个人唱片出版。
