和学亦称“国学”。日本江户中期兴起的一种学术体系。研究神代史、古代皇朝史、古代典章制度和古代文学。随歌学的出现而产生。歌学是研究和歌的意义、变迁、作歌规律、文法及注释等方面的学问。和学在歌学基础上发展而成，经历 4 个阶段。第一阶段 1688—1703 年（江户初期元禄年间），代表人物为契冲，从研究、考证和歌入手，建立“万叶学”。第二阶段 1716— 1735 年（享保年间）及此后一段时间，代表人物为荷田春满、贺茂真渊和本居宣长等。
