Using its audio and video "fingerprinting" technology, Vobile has been filtering content on 56.com as well as the less popular Chinese site Pomoho.com since mid-2008.
"Our profile here is dramatically increasing, " says Wang, Vobile's 40-year-old founder.
Vobile's technology identifies copyrighted video and music files so that they can be scrubbed from sites' servers or loaded with ads placed by the copyright holders.
And for Vobile, it may be the first two in a series of agreements that cement the startup as the go-to service for copyright filtering in China.
Vobile's big break came in 2007, when the Beijing media megalith Central Chinese Television (CCTV) asked the company to help it police Olympic videoclips to prevent their spread on the Web.
"Change is on the way in how consumers interact with content across multiple devices-change that will be as disruptive as the introduction of iPhone five years ago, " said Yangbin Wang, CEO of Vobile.

Audible ( ADBL - news - people ) Magic, Vobile has offices in Hangzhou and Beijing--a fact that Wang hopes will make it the logical choice for dealing with Chinese sites.
According to data from copyright-fingerprinting start-up Vobile, the number of copyright-infringing videos on some Chinese sites like Ku6 and Youku has jumped more than six-fold between September 2007 and September 2008, as seen in the first chart below.
