The facility, which will occupy a 3 acre piece of land in Wakiso one of the Kampala city suburbs, will offer specialized healthcare, nursing care and short-term assisted living for theelderly.
The beneficiaries range from theelderly poor with insufficient funds to pay for their nursing home or in-residence care, to those under 65 who suffer various mental or physical long-term disabilities which require extensive care.
They have received a letter of support from Sir Stewart Sutherland, who chaired the Royal Commission into long-term care, and recommended that all nursing and personal care should be provided free to theelderly.
