On January 30, The New York Times reported that it had been under sustained cyber attacks from Chinese hackers who had infiltrated their system to steal login credentials and information from its reporters and employees.
Federal prosecutors allege 26-year-old Matthew Keys provided the hacking group Anonymous with login information to access the computer system of The Tribune Co.
The federal indictment handed down in Sacramento accuses Matthew Keys of being a "terminated employee" of the Tribune Co. who gave hackers the information they needed to login to the publisher's computer system in December 2010.
