Les Bowers, who runs a TVrepair shop in Buckley, said while the town needed new ways to bring people into the area during the day, he was concerned a new supermarket may divert shoppers away from independent traders.
He has tried to repair relations with the authorities after a statement eight years ago in which he said satellite TV represents "an unambiguous threat to totalitarian regimes".
