The conventional wisdom is now that the numbers probably line up to the Pareto Principle, more commonly know as the 80-20 rule where 80% of the content in any social network is created by only 20% of the users.
This principle is the idea that the stuff that applications like web browsers do should reside in the end points of a network (the servers and end user devices such as PCs, smartphones, and pads) rather than in intermediary nodes such as routers and switches that are within the network.
