The climbdown over Lords reform has thrown into doubt its plans to reduce the size of the Commons from 650 to 600 and redraw constituency boundaries to make them roughly the samesize.
As fewer, more powerful and more complicated banks vie for business across the same landscape, their size will push them to make larger and larger loans to bigger and bigger borrowers to take advantage of their economies of scale.
