It has given millions of seniors the opportunity for free preventive services like mammograms and cancer screenings.
And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies.
It was the right thing to do so that important preventive services like mammograms could be provided to millions of Americans free.
Over 86 million Americans have gained from coverage of preventive care free of charge, like mammograms for women and wellness visits for seniors.
Women have gained access to preventive care like mammograms and contraception. (Applause.) We don't need to refight the battles of the last four years.
And because we passed this law, insurance companies now have to cover basic preventative care -- things like mammograms, prenatal care -- at no extra cost.
As of last fall, every American who buys a new plan can access preventive care like mammograms, immunizations, and prenatal care to get and stay healthy for free.

And this year alone, 18 million seniors with Medicare have taken advantage of preventive care benefits like mammograms or other cancer screenings that now come at no extra cost.

And because we passed this law -- something that no other President has been able to do -- insurance companies now have to cover basic preventative care, things like mammograms and prenatal care, at no extra cost.
We finally passed health care reform to make sure that health care is affordable and available for every single American in the United States. (Applause.) And as part of reform, insurance companies will cover preventive care like mammograms with no out-of-pocket costs.

And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies -- because there's no reason we shouldn't be catching diseases like breast cancer and colon cancer before they get worse and cost more money.
Two years ago, we all, together, made history by finally passing health reform -- something no other President was able to do. (Applause.) And because we passed this law, as Betsy said, insurance companies now have to cover basic preventative care like mammograms, prenatal care, and to do it at no extra cost.
It's been in the news lately. (Laughter.) Because of the health reform law that we passed, women finally have more power to make their choices about their health care. (Applause.) Last year, more than 20 million women received expanded access to preventive services like mammograms and cervical cancer screenings at no additional cost. (Applause.) Nearly 2 million women enrolled in Medicare received a 50-percent discount on the medicine that they need.
See, two years ago, we made history together by finally passing health reform. (Applause.) And because we passed this law, insurance companies will now have to cover basic preventive care -- things like prenatal care, mammograms, contraception -- at no extra cost. (Applause.) And they can no longer deny our children coverage because they have a pre-existing condition like diabetes or asthma.
Medicaid does not allow states to stop beneficiaries from getting care they need -- care like cancer screenings, preventative care, mammograms -- just because their provider offers certain other services.
Healthcare quality organizations, like the National Committee for Quality Assurance suggest that millions of people in the United States do not receive the basic recommendations for preventive health services such as immunizations, pap smears, mammograms, colorectal cancer screenings and the like.
