Building off the successes of "BioShock" and "BioShock 2, " creative director KenLevine wanted to further ramp up the player's emotional involvement in the game.
But the idea that being in the Smithsonian somehow legitimizes the work of the video game industry doesn't sit well with Irrational Games creative director KenLevine.
In the announcement, KenLevine and Joe Fielder stated that fans have been pouring in questions about this mysterious world of Columbia since it was first announced.
"Bioshock Infinite is a very big game, and we're doing things no-one has ever done in a first-person shooter, " said game designer KenLevine in a message posted to the game's website.
