This month is the launch of InternationalPolarYear (IPY) -- an ambitious scientific effort involving over 200 projects -- which will study exactly these types of geological changes.
In a project within the InternationalPolarYear called Igliniit, Inuit hunters recorded their observations of wildlife, sea ice, weather or other environmental phenomena as they travelled across the land.
