Susan Collins, R-Maine, has reiterated her call for an independent study of the healtheffects of the airport scanners, saying an alternative screening technology is available.
"Commissioner Shah is correct that the state needs to take the time to do a comprehensive study of the healtheffects of fracking to protect the public health, " said biologist Sandra Steingraber, a leader of the anti-fracking movement.
The EPA first requested the information from Halliburton and seven other energy companies as part of a study into health and safety effects of fracking.
So far officials of the National Institutes of Health say they've seen no serious side effects in clinical trials and that study subjects who have been immunized have generated a good response.
The Danish study is prospective in nature, which distinguishes it from most other studies on the healtheffects of cell phone use, which were case-control studies and enrolled subjects diagnosed with brain tumors and a comparison group of subjects who were free of brain tumors in order to compare reported cell phone usage in the two groups.
