Or on a travel site a photo of a temple in Japan could have an app that explains it, and if the photo is geo-tagged, shows a map of the area, and other related information.
Once a user creates a new album for a given event or party with the app, subsequent photos and videos taken on the smartphone will automatically be uploaded to the album, and even geo-tagged with location information from Google Maps.
These calculations are performed live on the iPhone using a crowd-sourced database of Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data that is generated by tens of millions of iPhones sending the geo-tagged locations of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple.
