About 46 Kohl's stores are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified, and about 20 percent of building materials in new stores are made from recycled elements.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalDesign, is program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council that awards points for buildings that incorporate various energy efficiency and water conservation features as well as providing such things as bike racks.
Now the U.S. Green Building Council has a pilot project to award credits under its LEED ( Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalDesign) system for the use of materials that have EPDs.
